party & music

Let’s dance the Sundown Blues! In a record store, on the beach, in the Caribe Club or on a terrace over the sea – three parties with excellent live Blues, We proudly present our musicians

STEF ROSEN

In Genova we could hardly imagine having a Blues Festival, even as tiny and intimate as Sundown Blues, without Stef Rosen. The guitar player and singer, living in Berlin, playing in clubs, for festivals and blues dance events, travelling continuously around the World – this guy was born and raised here, in Genova. And he will come home for Sundown Blues.

Stef is considered one of the most innovative and genuine blues players that have emerged in Europe in recent decades. His way of composing, playing and arranging is inspired by the soulful electric blues from the 70s, as well as the old acoustic blues from the late 20s. He looks at the tradition of this music with a personal and respectful attitude.

The Shooters: Ivano Carosio/ Francesco Rebora

The Shooters Duo

For Francesco Rebora Blues has always been a safe channel of communication. Still young but he is already one of the most well known and passionate Blues guitarists from Liguria. In 2016 he won the first prize of the Young Blues Challenge organised by Italian Blues River, he shared stages with some famous Italian and international musicians like Guitar Ray & The Gamblers, Paolo Bonfanti, Keith Dunn, Kirk Fletcher, Pete Pearson or Marco Pandolfi.

His brother in crime and harmonica player Ivano Carosio grew up with the sound of Little Walter and Sonny Boy Williamson II, is inspired by the electric blues sounds of Kim Wilson’s Fabulous Thunderbirds. Ivan shared experiences with many well-known artists of the European and international blues scene trying to bring on stage the unique and biting sound that only his instrument can give.

I Shot A Man

They were born in 2014, from the obstinacy of taking the blues back to its origins and playing it as if it were born today. The raw materials are first-rate: electric, acoustic, resophonic guitars, drums from the 1940s, embellished with spoons and washing boards, vocals somewhere between crooner and street musician.
The result is an essential, unfinished sound that thinks of the world in which the blues was born, when instruments were few and rusty, but in the midst of that scrap metal, melodies so pure could be born that they became universal. The absence of the bass forced them to invent new arrangements, to rethink the rhythm in a constant dialogue between percussion and hundred-year-old fingerpicking.

We were born in Turin, all three of us. All three of us children of travellers, of migrants, of people looking for a better place to live. Our blues were born here, in the most European of Italian cities, but which in its suburbs, in the heart of certain neighbourhoods, is so immobile that it seems time has stopped, and everything keeps repeating itself. And the blues, after all, is repetition. It is that obsessive way that thoughts have of tormenting you at night, while in the street two drunks scream, the neighbours make love, and you keep wondering how much longer the morning is.

Bad Blues Quartett

The Bad Blues Quartet are a band from Cagliari, Italy, active since 2015. Their blues are contaminated, mixing the sounds of rock, funk and traditional American music to give life to a personal, warm and energetic sound, which tells stories that are almost always autobiographical, with lyrics that are sometimes intimate, often ironic and shameless.

After releasing two studio albums (“Bad Blues Quartet” in 2017, “Back On My Feet” in 2019) and one live album (“First Time Last Time” in 2021), BBQ release their fourth work “White Gloves” on 19 April 2024 on Overdub Recordings and produced by American guitarist and producer Mike Zito. It is a more ambitious and heterogeneous album than its predecessors, ranging from the more funk and easygoing mood typical of their sound to more acoustic moments linked to the American tradition. White Gloves features several prominent guests from the blues scene, first and foremost Mike Zito himself and others such as Cek Franceschetti, Davide Speranza and Alle B Goode.

The Shapes

They call their Blues essentially “british” but they reach out to other stiles and rhythms, from traditional to soul.

Four highly experienced Blues men from Genova: Alessandro Casaleggio (guitar), Bob Vee (voice), Sandro Caviglia (bass) and Maurizio Borgia (percussion).
